Heh, better yet I have a bypass switch, but they get testy about that sort of thing. Apparently they get an alarm if you have net generation in any 15 minute period…
Might get their attention though!
“net generation” meaning you generate more power than you consume? If so, why doesn’t your bypass switch just disconnect you from the street?
Yeah, “net generation” means I am making more than I’m using, over a 15 minute period… my installer told me that the meter would alarm the utility and we’d get complaints…
The main reason I can’t disconnect from the street is that I have no battery storage, and solar systems are designed for “anti-islanding” so that if the grid goes down, the panels won’t put power on the grid, so you don’t kill the linemen! So disconnecting from the street (i.e. the main breaker) would kill the inverters as well.
